Prof. Dr. Talal H. Jaber, FCIArb is an international arbitrator, mediator, academic, and Managing Partner of Jaber Law Firm. He has nearly three decades of experience in international commercial arbitration, mediation, cross-border business law, and dispute resolution, and regularly acts as presiding arbitrator, sole arbitrator, co-arbitrator, mediator, and legal expert in complex disputes across the Middle East and international jurisdictions.
Dr. Jaber holds a Ph.D. in International Business Law (International Sales Contracts) and a Master’s degree in International Business Law from the University of Montpellier I, France. He also holds a Diploma in Anglo-American Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Lebanese Law from La Sagesse University. He has been admitted to the Beirut Bar Association since 1997.
Dr. Jaber has participated in arbitral proceedings conducted under leading institutional and ad hoc frameworks, including ICC, DIAC, LCIA, CRCICA, ADCCAC, and other international rules. His experience spans disputes governed by Lebanese, Emirati, English, Egyptian, Iraqi, Bahraini, Kuwaiti, and Omani laws, with arbitral seats including Paris, London, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Cairo, Beirut, Muscat, and Manama. His professional experience extends across a wide range of sectors, including construction, corporate and shareholder disputes, telecommunications, banking and finance, real estate, insurance, and international commercial transactions.
Dr. Jaber is listed on the arbitrator panels and databases of numerous leading arbitral institutions worldwide, including ICC, LCIA, DIAC, CRCICA, SIAC, SCCA, SCIA, QICCA, ADCCAC, OAC, KCAC, FAMINZ, Tahkeem, LAMC, and LIAC-BBA. In recognition of his contribution to arbitration practice, he was awarded the “Promising Arbitrator” distinction by the Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC) in 2018.
In addition to his arbitral and mediation practice, Dr. Jaber holds several institutional and professional appointments. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb), with accreditations in both arbitration and mediation. Since 2024, he serves as a Member of the Higher Arbitration Council and the Court of Arbitration of the Lebanese International Arbitration Centre (LIAC-BBA). He is a Delegate to the ICC Global Commission on Arbitration and ADR (ICC UAE) for the 2024–2027 term, and serves as a Member of the ICC Commission Task Force on Corruption in International Arbitration since 2019.
Within the Beirut Bar Association, Dr. Jaber serves since 2016 as the Head of the Disciplinary Council and as the Beirut Bar Representative to the Aley Judicial Circuit since 2010.
Alongside his professional practice, Dr. Jaber has maintained an extensive academic career. Since 2000, he has served as Professor of Business Law and Business Ethics at the Lebanese American University. Since 2015, he has served as Professor of International Commercial Agreements and International Arbitration at La Sagesse University (LL.M. in International Commercial Law). He has also served as Visiting Professor at the University of Montpellier I Business Law Centre since 2002, and as Professor of Middle Eastern Business Law at the DESS of International Commercial Law at the University of Montpellier I since 2015. He previously served as Professor of Business Law, Developing Business Plans and Business Ethics at the American University of Beirut from 2002 to 2009.
Dr. Jaber is the author of several publications, including Arbitration in Lebanon (1st ed. 2019; 2nd ed. 2024) and Introduction to Business Law (three editions), as well as numerous articles on arbitration, mediation, international sales of goods, blockchain, and business law. He regularly participates as a speaker, trainer, mediator, and moderator at international arbitration and dispute resolution conferences and professional programmes.
Dr. Jaber is fluent in Arabic, English, and French.
